Ohio Organizing Collaborative collected over 700,000 signatures to put sentencing reform on the 2018 ballot

One of our 39 state-based groups, the Ohio Organizing Collaborative (OOC), pulled off an amazing feat, collecting over 700,000 signatures to put sentencing reform on the 2018 ballot in Ohio. The OOC’s Neighborhood Safety, Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Amendment would ensure persons with non-violent drug convictions are released from prison. It would also reduce most non-violent drug offenses from felonies to misdemeanors. Because of the OOC’s hard work, sentencing reform will no longer be stalled in the Ohio Legislature, but taken directly to the people for a vote.
