Local community leaders are showing support for the U.S. Senate’s Farm Bill proposal. The leaders said the Senate version makes no significant cuts for the food assistance program, SNAP.
“We encourage senators Brown and Portman to set aside differences and support the Senate bill that protects food stamps for Ohioans, and make modest improvements that strengthen the program, rather than taking food from two million people,” said Reverend Marcia Dinkins with Ohio Organizing Collaborative.
Lawmakers in both the House and Senate are supposed to vote on proposed farm bill legislation by the end of the month.
