Our faith as members of the United Church of Christ calls us to be good stewards of the earth for ourselves and future generations and to have reverence for creation. We sorrow for those victims of the Kincade Fire and those who risk their lives in fighting it.
Pastor Nancy Bacon of the Tehachapi Community United Church of Christ and Faith in the Valley Kern will hold a public prayer vigil for victims of the Kincade Fire and in solidarity with those working to fight the fire at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 in the courtyard of the church grounds at 100 East E Street, weather permitting. In case of high winds, we will hold the vigil in Friendship Hall. Information on defensible space and fire hazard reduction from the Kern County Fire Department will be available, and the church will receive cash donations for the victims of the fire.
