DANVERS — A group marching across New England to protest the deportation and detention of undocumented immigrants stopped Tuesday at the Northshore Unitarian Universalist Church.
The protestors, from various New England faith groups, left Boston on Monday, beginning a 76-mile “funeral procession” toward the Strafford County House of Corrections in Dover, New Hampshire, which U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is using as a detainment center. They are carrying with them a child-sized coffin, adorned with names of children who have died in attempts to cross the southern border or in U.S. custody.
