They will have walked more than 220 miles by the time they arrive at the state Capitol on May 20.
But for the men and women participating in the Episcopal Diocese of San Joaquin’s Pilgrimage of Hope, each step and each stop is for a purpose.
The crusade was organized to stand in solidarity with immigrants and refugees, while also raising money for a legal defense fund, according to the diocese, which has 18 churches from San Andreas to the east of Bakersfield.
