National Faith Leader Calls For Peace on the Anniversary of October 7

Washington – As the world marks the second anniversary of the October 7th attacks in Israel, Bishop Dwayne Royster, Faith in Action’s executive director, offered prayers for peace:

“On this solemn anniversary of October 7, we mourn all who have been lost and all who continue to suffer. Our hearts cry out for those still held hostage, and we call for the immediate release of each and every hostage and for an end to the starvation and devastation in Gaza.

“It’s also not lost on me that the violence and war happening on the other side of the world are having a very real impact on people across our own country. In the midst of our ongoing communal grief, people of all religious backgrounds feel increasingly isolated as antisemitism, anti-Palestinian and anti-Muslim bigotry, and anti-Arab sentiment continue to rise dramatically.

“As people of faith, we believe every life is sacred and that peace built on justice is possible. We pray for the courage to break the generations-long conflict and to build a future rooted in love that ensures a safe and just future for all God’s children, Israeli and Palestinian alike.
