MID-MISSOURI — National statistics show African Americans are disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases announced the African American community is being disproportionately affected by COVID-19 due to pre-existing conditions that afflict minority groups.
“We have a particularly difficult problem of an exacerbation of a health disparity. We’ve known literally forever, that diseases like diabetes, hypertension, obesity, and asthma are disproportionately afflicting the minority populations particularly African Americans,” Fauci said.
