Washington, DC –  Leaders with Faith in Action issued a statement strongly condemning the Trump administration’s bombing of Venezuela, an act of military aggression that further destabilizes the region and endangers innocent lives. This attack is part of a disturbing and well-documented pattern of undermining Latin American governments through force, coercion, and intervention rather than peaceful engagement. Faith in Action and Faith in Action International together issued the following statement:

“Bombs do not bring democracy, stability, or peace. They bring death, displacement, and long-lasting trauma to communities already struggling under economic and political strain. As people of faith, we reject unilateral violence as an acceptable tool of foreign policy.”

The U.S. has no moral right to run Venezuela or any other nation. As an international network of people of faith, Faith in Action affirms the dignity and sovereignty of all nations and peoples. History has shown that U.S. military intervention in Latin America has repeatedly led to instability, weakened democratic institutions, forced displacement and migration, and deepened humanitarian crises. Venezuela’s challenges require diplomatic solutions, cooperation with countries in the region, and respect for self-determination, not war and foreign intervention.

We call on the U.S. government to halt military actions against Venezuela and to recommit to diplomacy, international law, and multilateral engagement through institutions such as the United Nations and regional partners. We must let Venezuelans decide their future. The path forward must be rooted in dialogue, accountability, and peace. As a faith-based organization, we believe our moral responsibility is clear. Diplomacy, not war; self-determination, not foreign intervention is the only just and sustainable way forward.”
