BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) -Tuesday evening, the city of McFarland Planning Commission will invite the public to weigh in on the proposed expansion of a private Immigration and Customs Enforcement processing center in the city.
“The community has a voice,” Alex Gonzalez, a community organizer with Faith in the Valley, a regional group promoting racial justice and health equity. “These public hearings have to happen to get input from the community, and if you have the community really being in opposition to this, knowing that there’s going to be fear of ICE presence in McFarland, hopefully we can change their minds,” Gonzalez said.
