“I would tell them, they need to change this. That this is horrible. President Trump yesterday said that children could be incarcerated with their families. Now, that’s horrible,” added Lorenzo.
At a roundtable discussion with Northern Virginia faith leaders held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington, Virginia’s U.S. senators reacted to reports of undocumented children detained at a facility in Staunton, Virginia.
“It’s a regional jail that’s contracted out some of its beds to this federal agency, there’s unaccompanied minors in that jail and they’re bringing a lawsuit alleging very horrific treatment in that jail,” said Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va. “We have to get answers first from the federal agency that’s responsible for the children, and visiting the facility if need be.”
