In a room full of hundreds of people, Kyle Lantz told a story about how he had to explain to his 2- and 4-year old children about a drive-by shooting that occurred at his next door neighbor’s house. Six shots were fired into the house on the April night, Lantz said, and his children would later correlate the sounds with fireworks in the next few months.
“As we tried to share our concerns with one officer (that night), … we were dismissed as our concern was irrelevant. It felt as the officer thought of it as just another shooting,” said Lantz, who was among several speakers at a Peacemaker Summit event organized by the St. Joseph County Chapter of Faith in Indiana.
