The aftermath of Miller’s shooting was also felt in San Bernardino County, when the county Sheriff’s Department hired one of the officers who shot her, Paul Bugar.
After an outcry, the department met with activists and came to what they thought was a resolution: Bugar would be limited to dispatch duties and not carry a gun, said the Rev. Joshua Beckley, pastor of the Ecclesia Christian Fellowship in San Bernardino.
