WASHINGTON – As the nation prepares for the incoming administration, national faith-based grassroots organization, Faith in Action is doubling down on their commitment to protecting vulnerable communities. Their executive director, Bishop Dwayne Royster, issued the following statement:

“It’s not lost on us that Inauguration Day coincides with the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr’s powerful legacy. It’s painful to witness history being made in direct contrast to everything he and other civil rights leaders inspired millions of Americans to fight for.

“Now is the time to take action. Our commitment to protecting our immigrant siblings will continue, and our work to ensure people in this country have access to safe and affordable housing will grow. We are expanding our mission to help develop equitable education systems that empower every child to thrive, and maintaining our dedication to ending mass incarceration has never been more urgent.

“Oligarchy is on the rise, but so is grassroots organizing. Hate is on the rise, but so is grassroots organizing. Abuse of power is on the rise, but so is grassroots organizing. People power is on the rise. For generations, faith-based community organizing has been central to creating the change we want to see in this world, and in this critical moment, we must become architects of a new America. Our organizing work will be key to protecting those most vulnerable. Stars shine brightest in the darkness, and through our collective work, we are ready to shine.”
