SOUTH BEND — Those who attended a vigil held in memory of Eric Logan Friday night said they aren’t surprised that a special prosecutor determined that his shooting death by a South Bend police officer was justified.
“We’ve seen this around the country. … So we’re not surprised by the outcome, but we want to encourage the community to remain calm and peaceful,” said Jorden Giger, a community activist and the organizer of the vigil.
Sgt. Ryan O’Neill, who is no longer on the South Bend Police force, shot Logan, 54, on June 16, 2019, in the parking lot of the downtown Central High Apartments. O’Neill did not have his body camera turned on.
