Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson announced new measures to combat violence in Chicago, while other city politicians, pastors and residents called for more holistic solutions.
In an afternoon press conference Johnson said he was extending hours of officers working in troubled neighborhoods, and cancelling days off for tactical, anti-gang and fugitive apprehension teams.
