SPRINGFIELD – Saying the city has not acted quickly enough to address police misconduct in the seven months since a critical Department of Justice report, two area groups opposed to police brutality are calling for federal intervention to force the city’s hand.
Officials with the Pioneer Valley Project and the local chapter of NAACP gathered on the steps of Springfield City Hall Thursday afternoon to call for the U.S. Department of Justice to step in and force the city to enter into a consent decree that would bind the city to abiding by the DOJ’s recommendations.
