In a suburb of Washington, D.C. Rosa Gutierrez Lopez is living at Cedar Lane Unitarian Church in order to avoid deportation. She came to the U.S. seeking asylum in 2005, missed a court date and a deportation order was issued. But after getting in touch with ICE in 2014 she was allowed to stay in the country under the Obama administration. This year ICE ordered her removal from the country, and now she’s living in the church to avoid deportation and avoid being separated from her three U.S. born kids, including her youngest who has down syndrome.

Rosa hopes her public plea will help her case.
