In that call, the Honduran Vicky Chávez said that she has been sheltering for 97 days with her daughters, of ten years and six months, respectively, in the “First Unitarian Church”, in Salt Lake City (Utah), waiting for the authorities they reopen their asylum application
“It’s a bit difficult to be in sanctuary … even though I have all my family in Utah, they are all residents and citizens in the US I can not have a normal life with my daughters,” said Chavez, who left Honduras in 2014 to escape domestic violence and death threats.
“We are asking to reopen my case and a petition so that I can leave the sanctuary and await the response outside with my family,” he explained.
