Isaiah Henry was one of nine young people who put pen to paper Tuesday and registered to vote for the first time. The high school student spoke solemnly about the sanctity of voter rights and his willingness to continue fighting for those rights into the future.
Henry was one of nine young people between the ages of 16 and 21 who registered to vote Tuesday as part of a National Voter Registration Day event held by Faith in Florida, a social justice non-profit that aims to increase voter rolls through a network of congregations across the state, with an emphasis of registering Black and minority voters.
In a small gathering at the Harry T. and Harriette V. Moore Cultural Complex in Mims, Henry and eight of his peers registered and pre-registered to vote.
