When she heard that local clergy were leading a funeral processional from Boston to New Hampshire for children and others who had died because of U.S. immigration practices and policies, local artist Holly Jaynes knew she wanted to participate. She signed up to march.
“Children in cages in America? How tragic. Children separated from their parents. Children dying. Unconscionable. Except for Native Americans we are all immigrants. All are welcome to America. This insanity has got to stop. This is why I march: for the children and for the parents who had them taken away from them and put in cages, and the parents who have been deported or died because they wanted a better life for their families. Also for the trans women who wanted to live a life of authenticity. We will be heard.”
