Sweeping immigration raids that were slated to to take place across the country on Sunday didn’t materialize, with few reports of arrests while federal officials said they were shifting to a softer rollout of enforcement action.
In New Jersey, immigrant communities and their advocates were closely monitoring the national news and remaining on guard. On Sunday, more than 50 people gathered at St. Lucy’s Church in Newark to hear a presentation on what they should do if U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents came knocking on their door.
