Organizers of the Solidarity Walk for Immigrant Justice announced today they expect upwards of 40 faith and community leaders to participate in Wednesday morning’s kick off of the Solidarity Network’s four day trek to the Strafford County Detention Center. Walkers will gather at St. Anne-St. Augustin, Manchester’s most diverse parish, at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday for a brief prayer service before processing to the I.C.E. headquarters at 275 Chestnut Street in Manchester and from there to the first day’s endpoint in Candia.
The Solidarity Walk is being planned by the many faith groups that have held prayer vigils outside the Norris Cotton Federal Building for the past year. The Solidarity Walk will pass through the towns of Auburn, Candia, Raymond, Epping, Lee, Madbury and Dover. Rev. Jason Wells, Executive Director of NH Council of Churches, stated that walkers expect to walk about 11 miles each day. The walk will conclude with a prayer service and vigil outside the Stafford County Jail in Dover, NH.
