Nearly 300 people began assembling at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in San Ysidro Friday evening. Members of activists groups and churches from across California are preparing for a weekend of protests and demonstrations following policies that separated migrant families. “I think that a line was crossed,” said Joseph McKellar with PICO California.

The group held a candlelight service Friday. Many brought sleeping bags to sleep and camp out on site ahead of the weekend’s events.
