In the final days of the legislative session, the administration came in with last minute education reform proposals that they claim will save money over time. However, JFO and legislative leaders have been asking in vain for an explanation on many aspects of the administration’s proposals, since no one — not even the administration — can show how their numbers add up.
Some have speculated that this might be the point: When the savings fail to materialize, the education fund will run short, which will force cuts to public school spending. We’ve seen this playbook in states across the country.
This administration, is working hard to justify the governor’s single-minded, misguided focus on his “no new taxes” message and are willing to sidestep any facts that get in their way.
