Despite being outvoted, the newest member of Indy’s Civilian Police Merit Board explained why he sided with the city’s top cop to fire two officers involved in a deadly shooting.
Metro officers Carlton Howard and Michael Dinnsen sat through hours of testimony during their merit board hearing hoping for a favorable outcome. A special prosecutor in the case ruled that there would be no criminal charges against the officers. But their jobs ended up in the balance.
It all centered around the June 2017 fatal shooting of unarmed motorist Aaron Bailey.
